หลังจากที่ผมได้รับทุน Erasmus Mundus ผมก็ได้รับคำถามเกี่ยวกับทุนนี้อย่างล้นหลามทั้งจากชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติ (อันนี้เรื่องจริงครับ ไม่ได้โม้ มีแขกอินเดียส่งเมล์มาหาผมถามเรื่องทุนนี้) ประกอบกับเมื่ออาทิตย์ที่แล้วทาง European Commision ได้ส่ง e-mail มาถึงผมในฐานะว่าที่นักเรียนทุน Erasmus Mundus ให้ช่วยเผยแพร่เว็บไซต์ที่ชื่อว่า "Study In Europe" ซึ่งเป็นเว็บไซต์ที่จะช่วยแนะแนวการศึกษาต่อในทวีปยุโรป ซึ่งเป็นแหล่งการศึกษาที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งของโลก ดังนั้นจึงเป็นโอกาสอันดีที่ผมจะได้เขียนแนะนำเกี่ยวกับทุน Erasmus Mundus ไปในตัว |

มีหลาย ๆ คนถามผมเรื่องทุนนี้ว่าต้องทำอย่างไรจึงจะได้ทุน? เกรดไม่ดีมีโอกาสได้ทุนหรือเปล่า? ผมอยากเป็นกำลังใจให้กับทุก ๆ คนครับ ในความคิดของผมนะครับเกรดก็มีผลในการตัดสินใจของคณะกรรมการคัดเลือกนักศึกษาแน่นอน แต่เกรดมันไม่ได้เป็นปัจจัยที่สำคัญเพียงอย่างเดียวครับ เนื่องจากเกรดเป็นเพียงแค่ตัววัดความขยันและความรับผิดชอบของคุณในอดีตครับ มันไม่ได้เป็นตัวบ่งชี้ถึงความรู้และความสามารถของคุณในปัจจุบัน อีกอย่างผมเองก็ได้เกรดไม่ค่อยดี (ผมได้แค่ 3.2x จาก วิศวะคอมฯ จุฬา) แต่ผมเองก็ยังได้รับทุน Erasmus Mundus ครับ ผมว่าสิ่งสำคัญมันอยู่ที่ว่าคุณจะทำอย่างไรให้คณะกรรมการคัดเลือกนักศึกษาเชื่อว่าคุณมีดี หรือ มีคุณสมบัติโดดเด่นกว่าคนอื่น ๆ และในความคิดของผม สิ่งสำคัญอื่น ๆ ที่ทางมหาวิทยาลัยใช้เป็นเกณฑ์ในการตอบรับเข้าเรียนและมอบทุน ได้แก่:... |

After I got accepted to the NordSecMob-Masters programme in Security and Mobile Computing, in addition to compliments, I've got a lot of questions. People keep asking me why I chose this program, why I decided to study in Sweden and Finland, why I didn't study in USA, etc. And, it seems like, in their minds, I made a wrong decision to study in Scandinavia instead of USA, UK or even Australia like most of Thai people do. On the other hand, there was no doubt in my mind that it was the right decision to make. I'm just a bit sick of this kind of questions. I just LIKE this program because it offers me a chance to fulfill my passion to study Computer Security. That's all. Do I need any other good reasons? Besides, I just can't be bothered to justify my decision that Sweden and Finland have actually been very innovative in mobile computing and computer security fields. |

I'm very happy that I received this e-mail. It is the first letter of acceptance I got from all programs I applied for. What matters is that I am proposed for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship which I long for. I can't believe this is real. |

Since being an undergraduate, I have held the same goal: to perform professional research as a network security expert at a research-oriented organization. I am interested in designing and implementing computer systems that are both secure and reliable; to fulfill this goal, however, I must improve my knowledge of network security and my research skills. The Master’s Program in Security and Mobile Computing (NordSecMob) is a good fit for me for many reasons. |
